Field techs, sales managers, and HQ staff on one home page

Cox One is the employee portal for Cox Communications. The people using it don't share a job. A field tech needs product specs, a sales manager needs numbers, and a people manager needs their team. I designed a home page where each of them finds their part first.

The problem

A cable company's staff portal has to work for people with completely different days.

/Field technicians need product details for residential and business, fast.
/Sales managers need net gains against forecast and last year.
/People managers need their team and their tools in one spot.
/Everyone needs their calendar, documents, and company news.
Redrawn in 2026 from the 2017 Sketch file. Widgets, labels, and layout match the original. I replaced placeholder text, swapped team photos for initials, and used stock photos for the hero and video.

Each job finds its widget

Product Center splits by residential and business, with search on top. Performance shows net gains for data, video, voice, and Homelife as gauges, against forecast and last year. Appointments, the activity feed, and company news sit beside them. Each widget is color-coded so you learn where things live.

Managers get their own tools

People managers see their team with what's coming up for each person, like a review due or time off. Cox University recommends courses by role. Short polls let HR ask a real question and get answers back.

What made it work
/

One page that works for very different jobs.

/

Color-coded widget families you learn once.

/

Sales numbers shown against forecast and last year, not alone.

/

Manager tools only for people who manage.

/

Company culture on the page without crowding the work.

Outcome

It became the starting point for Cox One, the portal Cox employees use every day.

/Employees found what they needed for their job without digging through department sites.
/Managers used the team view to stay ahead of reviews and training.
/The widget system scaled as new teams added their own content.
